Our team is focused on ensuring our youth succeed at all levels of their education from high school graduation to post-secondary education in college, university and trade apprenticeships.
Completing Your High School Education
Adult and Continuing Education is offered by Peterborough Alternative and Continuing Education and Adult & Alternate Education Centre – Lindsay and Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington CDSB.
The Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) was designed to assist students in their investigation and pursuit of careers in skilled trade occupations, and is offered by Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) and Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board – OYAP Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, Trillium Lakeland District School Board.
Colleges and Universities
- Canadian Universities and Colleges (lists colleges and universities per province, applications, fees, campus tours, etc.).
- Specialist High Skills Major (lets students focus on a career path that matches their skills and interests while meeting the requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). This is a high school program.
Trades and Apprenticeships
- Apprenticeship Search is a website that connects employers and apprentices across Ontario. This resource offers major incentives for clients from an under-represented group.
- Start an Apprenticeship. This page on the Government of Ontario website also features links on how an apprenticeship works; explore trades; how to prepare for an apprenticeship; how to start an apprenticeship; money for apprenticeships and how to complete an apprenticeship.
- Skills Canada – Ontario promotes skilled trades and technologies in Ontario.
- Child Welfare PAC – Paid tuition for youth that are in, or have been in extended society care, and would like to pursue employment in the construction trades.
- Canada.ca – Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG) and Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG).
- Skilled Trades Ontario.
- At Employment Planning and Counselling Peterborough, clients have a chance to use a Virtual Reality simulator for trades related career exploration. This simulator allows the client to experience what it is like to work in a skilled trade, and is highly immersive and realistic.
